What is a solution?
Overview
A Solution is a building block in TheyDo used to capture an idea, concept, or existing feature, product, service, or process that addresses one or more Opportunities. Where Opportunities represent the problems you've identified in a journey, Solutions represent what you'll do — or already do — to fix them.
What Solutions are used for
- Document existing work. Capture features, services, processes, or content you already have and map where they show up in the customer journey.
- Track new ideas. Record improvement ideas and connect them to the Opportunities they're meant to solve.
- Link work to journey context. Attach a Solution to the specific step(s) it impacts, and reuse the same Solution across multiple journeys.
- Track relationships. Use a Solution's detail tabs to manage connections to other building blocks — Journeys, Opportunities, Insights, Goals, and other Solutions.
Where to create Solutions
There are two main places to create a Solution:
- In a Journey — add a Solutions lane to your journey, then add a Solution in the relevant step cell.
- In the Solutions Library — select Create new, then link the Solution to any journey or step you need.
Tips
- Use Solutions to bridge the gap between research and delivery — they keep improvement ideas connected to the customer problems that motivated them.
- A single Solution can be reused across multiple journeys, which helps you see the full scope of what a feature or process touches.
- Pair Solutions with Opportunities to maintain a clear problem-to-action relationship throughout your work.
