How to push solutions to Jira
Once your Jira integration is active, you can push TheyDo solutions directly to Jira as work items. This article walks you through how to do it.
Before you start
- The Jira integration must be set up and Active. See Jira integration to get started.
- You need access to the solution you want to push.
How to push a solution to Jira
- Open the solution you want to push in TheyDo.
- In the solution panel, select Push to Jira.
- Choose the Jira project you want to push to (your default project will be pre-selected if you've set one).
- Choose the issue type: Epic, Story, Task, or Bug.
- Confirm — the solution is now created as a work item in Jira, and the two are linked.
Once linked, the Jira issue key will appear on the solution card in TheyDo.
Linking to an existing Jira issue
If a Jira issue already exists for this work, you can link it instead of creating a new one:
- Open the solution in TheyDo.
- Select Link to Jira issue.
- Search for the existing Jira issue by title or ID.
- Select it to create the link.
What happens after you push
- The solution title and description are carried over to the Jira work item.
- If two-way sync is enabled, updates to the title or description in Jira will reflect back in TheyDo.
- When the work item's status changes in Jira, the solution's status updates in TheyDo — as long as status mapping is configured.
Tips
- You can push solutions from multiple TheyDo workspaces to multiple Jira projects — each is mapped separately.
- To change where a solution is pushed, unlink it first, then push again to the correct project.
- Solutions pushed to Jira will show the linked Jira issue key directly on the card.
