How to create a quote manually
Manual quote creation lets you turn any passage of text in a source into a structured quote yourself, instead of relying only on the quotes Journey AI extracts during ingestion. Use it when you want more control over exactly which passages become quotes, or when you want to add a quote that ingestion missed.
Before you start
- Manual quote creation is currently behind a feature flag. If you don't see this option in Data Hub yet, reach out to your TheyDo contact.
- Journey AI availability affects what you get automatically: when it's enabled, TheyDo generates the quote title and assigns experience impact for you. When it isn't, you still get the quote with its description, and you can fill in the rest yourself.
Steps
- Go to Data Hub.
- Open the text source you want to work with (for example, a transcript). It opens in full screen.
- Select the passage of text you want to turn into a quote.
- Choose the option to create a quote from your selection.
- TheyDo creates the quote. If Journey AI is enabled, the title and experience impact are filled in automatically. If not, you'll see the description only.
- Review the quote in the side panel. Adjust the experience impact or add notes as needed.
Tips
- Quotes created this way are treated the same as quotes extracted by Journey AI during ingestion, so they're included in mining right away.
- The description of a quote tied to a source can't be edited. Editing it would break the link to the exact passage, so it wouldn't be a verbatim quote anymore. Notes stay fully editable, as always.
- Selecting the experience impact value highlights the exact passage it came from in the source, handy for double-checking context.
