How to customize personality traits on a persona
Overview
Personality traits help you describe how a persona thinks, feels, and behaves. Each persona in TheyDo has its own set of traits that you can fully customize — adding new ones, scoring them, renaming them, or removing any that don't fit.
New personas start with the Big Five defaults (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Stability), but you're not locked into these. Each persona's traits are completely independent, so you can tailor them to reflect your specific research and context.
Add a personality trait
- Open a persona.
- Go to the Personality traits section.
- Select Add personality trait.
- Enter a name for the trait.
- Use the slider to set a score from 1 to 5.
Edit a personality trait
- Click the trait name to rename it inline.
- Drag the slider to update the score.
Delete a personality trait
- Hover over the trait row.
- Select the trash icon to remove it.
Tips
- Traits are unique to each persona — changes on one persona don't affect others.
- You can leave a trait label empty and set the score first, then name it later.
- When you duplicate a persona, its traits are copied to the new one.
- When you export personas to CSV, all traits are combined into a single Personality Traits column.
