How to duplicate a journey?

Overview

Journey duplication lets you create a copy of an existing journey in TheyDo. You can duplicate within the same workspace, to another workspace, or across organizations. You can also control how much content gets copied — from just the journey structure to a full copy that includes nested journeys, building blocks, and taxonomy.

Steps

  1. Open the journey you want to duplicate.
  2. Click ... next to the journey title.
  3. Choose a destination:
    • To this workspace
    • To a different workspace
    • To this organization or to a different organization (if applicable)
  4. Select a copy mode (see below).
  5. Choose which building block types to include and whether to include taxonomy.
  6. Click Duplicate the journey.

Once the duplication is complete, you'll be redirected to the new journey and receive a confirmation notification. Large or complex journeys may take a few minutes — you don't need to stay in the journey while it processes.

Copy modes

Choose how much content you want to include in the duplicate.

Default for duplications within the same workspace. Only available within the same workspace.

Creates a new journey structure that links to existing content rather than copying it.

Includes:

  • Journey structure (steps, lanes, phases, properties)
  • Links to existing building blocks
  • Links to existing nested journeys

Excludes:

  • No new building blocks or nested journeys are created

Just the structure

Available for all destinations.

Copies only the journey layout, with no content inside it.

Includes:

  • Journey structure (steps, lanes, phases)
  • Journey properties

Excludes:

  • Building blocks
  • Nested journeys

This journey only (no nested journeys)

Available for all destinations.

Copies the journey and its directly linked building blocks as new, independent items. Nested journeys are not included.

Includes:

  • Journey structure and properties
  • Directly linked building blocks
  • Building block hierarchies
  • Relationships between copied items
  • Optional: selected building block types and taxonomy

Excludes:

  • Nested journeys

Everything (full copy)

Default for duplications to other workspaces. Available for all destinations.

Creates a complete copy of the journey and all related content.

Includes:

  • Journey structure and properties
  • All nested journeys
  • All linked building blocks and their hierarchies
  • Relationships between all copied items
  • Optional: selected building block types and taxonomy

Choosing what content to include

After selecting a copy mode, you can refine what gets duplicated.

Building block types — Select which types to include, such as insights, opportunities, or metrics. Child building blocks of selected types are included automatically.

Taxonomy — Choose whether to include taxonomy linked to the journey and its building blocks. Any missing taxonomy items will be created automatically in the destination workspace.

What never gets duplicated

Some elements are always excluded, regardless of the copy mode or settings you choose.

  • Ownership assignments — Owners are not carried over. You'll need to reassign them in the duplicate.
  • Data integration connections — Data is copied, but live integrations are not maintained.
  • View configurations — Custom views are reset to default in the duplicated journey.
  • Sources — Quotes won't retain their source when duplicated to another workspace.
  • Documents — Documents are not included in duplication.

Tips

  • Duplicating a journey creates an independent copy — changes to the original won't affect the duplicate, and vice versa.
  • If you're duplicating to another workspace or organization, Everything (full copy) is selected by default, since linked content would not be accessible in the new location.
