Reveal opportunities with AI
Overview
Opportunity reveal turns the insights on a journey step into opportunities. Instead of staring at a cluster of pains and needs and drafting "How might we" statements by hand, you let AI propose them from the evidence that's already linked to the step. This article covers how to run a reveal, what the AI generates, and how to work with the results.
Note: Opportunity reveal requires AI to be enabled for your organization and workspace, and you need edit permission for opportunities. Without both, the reveal button doesn't appear on the canvas.
How it works
Opportunity reveal is step-scoped: it reads the insights linked to one specific step and generates opportunity cards from them. That keeps the output grounded, since every generated opportunity traces back to evidence on that exact moment in the journey.
All generated opportunities are created as the How might we type. You can't pick a different type during the reveal itself, but you can change it on any opportunity afterwards.
Note: If your organization uses a custom name for opportunities, the reveal buttons and labels adapt to that name automatically.
Reveal opportunities on a step
- Open your journey on the canvas.
- Make sure the step has insights linked to it. The more specific the insights, the better the generated opportunities.
- Hover over the cell where the Opportunities lane crosses your step.
- Click the sparkle icon to reveal opportunities.
- Wait for the AI to generate opportunity cards in the cell.
Review and refine the results
Treat the generated opportunities as strong first drafts. Open each card, check that the framing matches what the underlying insights actually say, and edit the title and description where needed. From there they behave like any other opportunity: link them to solutions and goals, score them, and place them on the Opportunity Matrix.
In the opportunity library, AI-generated opportunities carry a sparkle icon in the Origin column (hover shows Revealed by AI), and you can filter the library by source to see only AI-generated opportunities. That makes it easy to find everything the AI proposed and give it a proper editing pass.
Tip: Run reveal on the steps where your evidence is deepest, not on every step. A step with two thin insights gives the AI little to work with; a step with a dozen scored insights gives it a real basis.
Good to know
- If the reveal button is missing on a step, check three things: AI is enabled for your organization and workspace, you have opportunity edit permission, and the opportunity database isn't locked by a workspace manager.
- Generated opportunities are regular opportunities. Archiving, editing, linking, and prioritization all work the same as for manually created ones.
