Insight Mining Automations

Insight mining automation allows you to schedule recurring insight extraction from your connected data sources - ensuring your customer journeys stay continuously updated with fresh insights without manual intervention.

Mining automation builds on TheyDo's existing insight mining capabilities by adding scheduled processing of connected data sources.
When new data arrives through integrations, your automations will automatically process it according to your specified schedule.

How to set up Mining Automation

Step 1: Access the Mining Flow

Follow the standard insight mining process:

1. Navigate to your journey

2. Click Journey AI in the top-right corner

3. Select "Mine Insights"

Step 2: Configure Your Sources

1. Filter to connected sources: Currently works with Qualtrics integrations

2. Select your survey/source from the available options

3. Choose insight types (pain, gain, need, observation)

4. Set mining behavior (create new, enrich existing, or both)

Step 3: Schedule Your Automation

Choose your frequency:

Never (One-time)

• Performs mining once immediately

• No recurring schedule

Daily

• Select your preferred time

• Uses your local timezone automatically

Weekly

• Choose day of the week (Monday-Sunday)

• Set specific time

Monthly

• Select day of month (1-31)

• Important: If you choose day 29-31, automation will run on last day of those months that don't have those days

• For consistent monthly runs, we recommend choosing days 1-28

Step 4: Activate

Click "Mine Insights" to start your automation and perform the initial mining.

Managing Active Automations

Visual Indicators

• Pink highlight: The "Mine Insights" button turns pink when automations are active

• Counter badge: Shows number of active automations (e.g., "Mine Insights 2")

Automation Controls

Click the highlighted Mine Insights button to access:

Run Now

• Manually trigger automation outside the schedule

• Only available when no other mining job is running

Manage Automations

• Edit schedule: Change frequency, timing, or day settings

• Delete automation: Remove scheduled mining entirely

• View details: See all configured automations for the journey

Best Practices

Scheduling Considerations:

• Daily: Best for high-volume feedback sources

• Weekly: Ideal for regular survey cycles

• Monthly: Suitable for periodic research updates

Timing Recommendations:

• Schedule during off-peak hours to avoid workflow disruptions

• Consider your team's working hours for result review

• Allow time between multiple automations if using several

Source Management:

• Focus on active, recurring sources rather than one-off uploads

• Monitor data volume to prevent overwhelming your journey maps

• Use specific insight types to maintain relevance
