What are Goals?

Goals help to align leadership and teams around shared objectives, by creating a place to capture Goals and link them to Opportunities and Solutions.

What are Goals?

Goals are targets or outcomes that a business plans to achieve in a set period of time. They can range from general mission statements to specific, quantifiable outcomes. In TheyDo, Goals can be linked to Opportunities and Solutions in order to clarify how the strategic plan aligns with the initiatives that are being worked on across all Journeys.

For example: Goals can be "Increase market share by 15% by the end of Q4 2024", "Improve customer satisfaction by 20% in the next 2 years", or "Launch the Supermarket app MVP within the next 6 months."

How do goals help you to improve your CX?

Setting goals is a best practice for a reason—goals help drive businesses in the right direction. Here are a few more reasons why companies take the time to establish strong goals.

  • Defining Success: Goals are front and center in TheyDo. They help you to clearly communicate what success looks like, challenging your teams to exceed their potential.

  • Connect initiatives to Goals: You can link Goals to all Opportunities and Solutions in a workspace. Doing so will help create clarity and understanding of how individual contributions add up to overall business success. This helps promote stakeholder buy-in by demonstrating the value and impact of the work being done.

  • Aligning teams and leadership around shared objectives: Goals align teams towards a shared objective set by leadership. For instance, if the company's aim is to boost profitability by 10%, individual teams will prioritize the Opportunities and Solutions that will help achieve it. This approach keeps teams unified while pursuing different tactics. For leadership, goals provide a place where they can monitor exactly what initiatives are being picked up in order to achieve the goals.

Goals in the Journey Management workflow

Triple-Diamond-overview

Goals play a guiding role throughout the triple diamond, but they play an especially important part at three points:

  • Aligning company strategy: Goals can help align the strategy between different stakeholders in your company.

  • Choosing what Journeys to map. Goals help to inform what Journeys should be mapped in the first place. For example, if a Goal is to "Increase Sales conversion by 20%", it follows that the Sales Journey should be mapped in order to learn what can be improved to achieve this goal.

  • Prioritizing Opportunities and Solutions. Goals can help inform the prioritization of Opportunities and Solutions; the more they contribute to a strategic goal, the higher their value is.

  • Monitoring Success: Goals help monitor if you are on the right path to achieving them, by keeping track of progress.
